For Mulberry Bush, Apprentices have brought fresh ideas, energy and enthusiasm to the workplace. Senior Manager for the nursery group, Stacey, comments below:
“The best thing about hiring an Apprentice is that they’ve got ideas, they are passionate and enthusiastic. From our perspective, we can shape them into the Nursery Nurse we want them to be. Apprenticeships really are the way forward.”
Stacey praises the support from the college, adding “The Apprentices that come to us through Bury College are of a high standard. Staff are amazing, they come to us with ideas and if issues arise, they help us. Chloe, a former Apprentice, shares her experience: “When I finished my Apprenticeship, I was kept on full-time at Mulberry Bush in the baby room. I’ve since been promoted to Deputy of that room.”
Tilly, a current Apprentice at the nursery, adds: “I love everything about Mulberry Bush and the best thing about doing my Apprenticeship is getting the real-life experience, whilst learning.”

Bury College welcomed learners from 12 Greater Manchester colleges for the GM Skills Foundation Studies Competition, where students showcased creative heritage-inspired projects and took part in a collaborative team challenge. The event celebrated student creativity, confidence, and community.
Bury College hosted the GM Skills Construction Competition on Friday 13th March 2026, with students from nine colleges competing across Plastering, Bricklaying, Carpentry and Joinery, Electrical Installation, Painting and Decorating, and Plumbing, showcasing top skills and earning multiple wins.
