National Apprenticeship Week was an exciting and inspiring time at Bury College, filled with activities that helped mark the occasion and celebrate the exceptional talent, dedication and achievements of Apprentices.
Several Bury College students are looking forward to their future careers after successfully completing the first year of their Digital T Level course.
Curtis Boland, Ewan Eland, Dade Spann and Jamie Reid enrolled on the pioneering qualification last year and are now excited about where this knowledge and experience can take them.
Over the last 12 months, they have all undertaken industry placements within different elements of the NHS, and it’s clear that this has given them valuable insights into what it takes to succeed in the Digital and IT industries.
Curtis, 17, formerly of the Co-Operative Academy of Manchester, enjoyed a placement with Salford Royal. He said: “The teaching on this course has been fantastic. It has pushed me academically, and I now feel a lot more confident. I also gained a lot of useful experience during my placement.”
Ewan Eland is also enjoying the course and the opportunities it has brought him. The former Woodhey High School pupil added: “I have learnt a lot more about the Digital and IT industries since starting my course. The teaching has helped me put this knowledge into practice whilst on placement.
Dade Spann has aspirations of working in Cyber Security. The former Tottington High School pupil said: “I have gained valuable knowledge and insights into the industry. I am now more confident that I can achieve my dream career.”
Jamie Reid, formerly of The Heys School, also has dreams of working in Cyber Security. He added: “The course has helped develop my technical ability. Working on placement has helped advance this even further.”
Nick Depledge, Assistant Curriculum Manager for IT at Bury College, has been delighted with the progression of his students and spoke about the benefits of a successful industry placement. He said: “The IT Department are proud of our students ability to transition into a professional working environment. They have shown maturity, resilience and a positive mindset that has ensured they have completed a 45-day placement. They can be proud of their achievements and we wish them the very best for the remainder of their course."
