Our range of Level 1 Health and Social Care Courses have been designed to explore the health care sector and for those who want to gain the skills to progress into employment.
As a Bury College student, you will have access to excellent facilities in our Health and Digital Centre, including a state-of-the-art laboratory, simulated hospital ward and replicated domestic home.
Preparing to work in Adult Social Care Level 1
This qualification provides a pathway into the adult social care sector for individuals considering a career in health and/or social care or those returning to work after a career break. It provides an opportunity to develop knowledge about the wider health and social care sector before learners decide whether working in the sector is for them and the chance gain information to make decisions about career progression.
Introduction to Mental Health Level 1
This course aims to raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health difficulties; dispel some of the myths and misconceptions frequently linked to mental health and develop learners’ knowledge of the rights of those with mental health issues.
This unit will increase your awareness of protection and safeguarding in health and social care. You will study important topics such as how to protect vulnerable adults and correctly safeguard children. You will also develop knowledge of the actions that might have to be taken when incidents of ‘harm, abuse and neglect’ are identified.
Introduction to Dementia Level 1
Throughout studying this course, you will start to understand the main causes and effects of dementia and learn the importance of a person-centred approach when working with individuals.
