National Apprenticeship Week was an exciting and inspiring time at Bury College, filled with activities that helped mark the occasion and celebrate the exceptional talent, dedication and achievements of Apprentices.
An adult learner at Bury College University Centre recently celebrated a huge achievement, marking a significant step on their journey towards their dream career.
Having left school without any formal qualifications, Mikey Devlin made the decision to return to education and study the Access to Higher Education Diploma at Bury College University Centre. This course gives students the opportunity to gain a Level 3 qualification that meets the entry criteria for a wide range of universities.
With his course recently completed, Mikey is now progressing onto degree-level study, driven by a desire to become a social worker.
“The biggest achievement for me was that I left school with nothing and I’m now an educated man. I’ve been accepted onto an honour’s degree and I want to become a social worker. I couldn’t be prouder, it’s phenomenal,” says Mikey.
During his time at Bury College University Centre, Mikey felt supported by staff.
“Bury College gives people opportunities, and they never judge anybody. They give you a chance to be someone in life and be better at what you want to be” he added.
Bury College’s Access courses have been designed for individuals who may not hold qualifications that allow them direct entry onto a higher education course and want to boost their opportunities.
There are two diplomas available, both support learners to develop study skills suitable for university. Learn more about each course and take the next step, like Mikey, below:
