National Apprenticeship Week was an exciting and inspiring time at Bury College, filled with activities that helped mark the occasion and celebrate the exceptional talent, dedication and achievements of Apprentices.
Bury College was proud to welcome families, friends and members of the local community to its annual Art, Design and Media Exhibition, which took place on Thursday 12th June. The showcase celebrated the hard work, creativity and progress of students across a range of creative courses.
The exhibition featured an impressive variety of work produced by students from A Level and degree-level courses, including fine art, textiles, photography, graphic design and 3D design. Visitors had the chance to explore curated displays that demonstrated technical skill, originality and personal growth.
Among the exhibitors was A Level Art, Craft and Design student Lily Smith, who praised the course for encouraging experimentation and giving students the freedom to work in their chosen mediums.
Photography students also played a key role in the exhibition, showcasing striking studio and location-based work. Student Rhiannon Roberts reflected on her excitement for further developing her skills next year:
“Being able to progress with my work, maybe get into the studio more and do more professional shoots with the studio lighting.”
Students on the Foundation Degree in Art and Design also shared their achievements. The course provides a valuable bridge between college-level study and university, allowing learners to strengthen their skills and prepare for future creative careers.
Marina Rosa De Campos spoke about how the course gave her the opportunity to move away from a previous career path and explore her passion for textiles and design. Originally from Brazil, Marina credited the college’s supportive teaching team for helping her grow in confidence and develop her creative identity.
“The staff are very helpful to me and help me understand, with my English, and show me how to make my work different and put my creativity on it.”
Looking ahead, Marina plans to combine her textile skills with digital art to create and sell her own products.
Foundation Degree student Aria Evans has spent three years at Bury College and is preparing to study at Manchester Metropolitan University. She described the course as a key stepping stone between A Level and university-level study.
“I feel a lot more prepared, especially more mentally and emotionally prepared too.”
Reflecting on her time at college, Aria spoke of the strong sense of community, the supportive environment, and the lasting friendships she has formed.
The Art, Design and Media Exhibition is a highlight of the academic calendar and offers students a platform to share their creativity with pride. The event demonstrates the college’s commitment to nurturing talent and providing opportunities for learners to grow both artistically and personally.
Bury College is proud to support the next generation of creative professionals and looks forward to seeing what these talented students achieve next.
