Bury College Art students bring colour to Rose Court Care Home
Our second-year Textiles and Fine Art pathway students recently visited Rose Court Care Home to run a series of arts and crafts workshops.
This
is a course for those who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities, who
have an Education Health and Care Plan and want to be employed. You will develop
and acquire specific and transferable employment skills required in the
competitive world of work by taking part in three intensive work experience
placements at different local employers, whilst being supported by a job coach.
Time and consideration is taken to match your working aspirations and choices
with employer’s business needs.
The curriculum is tailored around the student group and individual employment needs. The primary focus is to develop employability skills sought by employers alongside promoting working aspirations. You will have the opportunity to gain a wealth of work experience by participating in three intensive work placements whilst being supported by a job coach.
You will also study English and maths and dependent on individual assessment results could gain a Functional Skills or Stepping Skills Qualification at an appropriate level.
Possible units of study include: Vocational Profiling, Use of Training in Systematic Instruction, Employability Skills, CV building, Travel Training, Health and Safety in the Workplace, Job Searching, Voluntary Work, Job Centre and Job Clubs.
Assessment
in a variety of ways including: Feedback from employer and job coach,
Observation on placement, Photographic evidence, Observation/witness statements,
Some written work, Tutor statements.
We
will support you to find paid and voluntary work and to live independently in
the future.
There
will be trips and visits to develop you socially and academically. There will be
additional costs for these.

For Supported Internship: Entry is subject to interview, School/College Reference, EHCP and Initial Assessments. Students should be interested in gaining employment and keen to undertake work placements.
