This course offers you a chance to study a Level 1 Certificate in one of four different vocational pathways including:

in working life and to support progression onto Level 2 courses or into
You may progress to a Level 2 programme, apprenticeship, traineeship, internship or employment in their chosen pathway. Level 1 Pathway to Retail Progression includes Retail Assistant, Customer Service, Sales Adviser, Stockroom Assistant, Cashier. Level 1 Pathway to Digital Media includes Advertising, Programme Researcher, Social Media Manager, Producer, Event Organiser. Level 1 Pathway to Performing Arts includes Actor, Performer, Dancer, Drama Therapist, Director, Screenwriter, Stage Manager. Level 1 Pathway to Employment includes Internship, apprenticeship or employment.
Entry is subject to interview and school/college reference and initial assessment. You should be working above Entry Level 3 and be interested in improving your academic skills, employability skills and confidence. You should be willing to participate on a work experience placement related to the study pathway.
A full-time one year course starting in September.
You will have the chance to obtain a Level 1 Certificate with the NOCN exam board. The course is unit led and you may study the following units depending on the pathway chosen:
You will also study English and maths, take part in a work experience placement and study units to improve employability, personal and social skills. The course is assessed using a variety of methods including written work, practical activities, role play, presentations, group discussions, diagrams, posters and work experience.
You will gain specific and transferable employability skills whilst on the course, these may include, working as part of a team, communicating with customers and presenting yourself. You will also develop skills in solving problems, using computer software, understanding instructions, completing tasks on time and decision making.
Work experience is an essential element of your Study Programme and you will be supported to find a suitable placement thus enabling you to gain the necessary and required employment skills sought after by employers alongside you considering possible future career aspirations.
Alongside external visits planned as part of the curriculum, you will have the opportunity to take part in a range of activities and sport enrichment sessions. These sessions are optional.
There will be additional costs for visits and trips and Personal Protective Clothing or equipment for Work Experience.
