All students following an advanced course (AS/A level, National
Diploma, NVQ 3, Vocational level 3) are part of the Bury College
Sixth Form.
The success of our Sixth Form is built around
a dedication to study and offers the levels of support
to ensure students make a successful transition from
school to College. We place strong emphasis on meeting
the individual needs of all students to ensure they reach
their potential. Students are set targets based on their results
at 16 and their progress against these targets is regularly monitored
by teaching and tutorial staff.
Students in our Sixth Form are
made aware of the importance of academic
success and are expected to work hard
to achieve it. Students are encouraged
to take more responsibility for their own learning
so that they are well prepared for university or professional
training.
Students are expected to attend all their timetabled classes and to be punctual
for every one of them. Within the Sixth Form we also encourage students
to develop new interests through our Enrichment Programme and to
participate in College social and community activities.
Our aim is
to add to the learning experience of every student.
