Bury College - Information for Parents

 

We attach great importance to working with parents, to address the challenges and be successful.

For most people the years between 16 and 19 are exciting but also challenging. Students entering our Sixth Form have to adapt quickly to a new higher-level programme of study with greater demands on their time outside lessons. Whilst in the Sixth Form they also have some important decisions to make about the possibilities that are available beyond college. By working together we can make it much easier for your son or daughter to rise to challenges and be successful. We place great emphasis on maintaining a dialogue with parents to help students succeed.

We offer Parents' Evenings at which parents can discuss the progress of their son or daughter with teaching staff. There are also evenings organised to inform parents about higher education/career opportunities. Parents receive regular reports and are encouraged to contact the College at any time to discuss the progress of their son or daughter.

Sophie lacked real confidence when she commenced the first year of the Degree course having had no previous experience in the Early Years or any real knowledge about the subject. The team organised for Sophie to have work placement at a local primary school and she absolutely loves the work she does at the school.
