Employers
Bury College is proud of its links with business and industry and
its commitment towards enhancing the skills of Bury’s workforce.
Numerous successes have been achieved in helping to develop the learning
capability of local businesses, industry and employees.
- Bury College Business Solutions works
closely with a number of employers and industry groups, offering relevant
advice, guidance and training on a wide range of consultancy and training
programmes.
- Bury College Apprenticeships deliver the
Apprenticeship framework to over 400 employers across Bury, Bolton,
Rochdale and Wigan and 500 work-based learning Apprentices.
- Bury College's Centres of Vocational
Excellence (CoVEs) in Management Skills and Business
Services and Early Years Development and Childcare are working
closely with local employers to develop new and enhanced Vocational
provision focused on meeting the skills needs of industry.
- The Treasury-supported Employer Training Pilot (now Train
to Gain) has grown from strength to strength since
its start in 2002. ETP funding has enabled many low skilled employees
to be trained at NVQ level 2 or on a suitable Essential Workplace
Skills programme.
- In partnership with Bury MBC and several other organisations across
Bury, Business Solutions has opened the Routeways
to Work
Multicultural Business Support project. Running until
September 2007 the project aims to raise the competitiveness of
ethnic minority businesses by providing advice, guidance and training
to help existing and new businesses create additional opportunities
for employment and sustainability.
