  Roaring Success for Bury Taxi Drivers - 23-Feb-2010

Taxi drivers from Elton Tiger cars in Bury attended Bury College on 18th February 2010 to be presented nationally recognised certificates for completing their NVQ Level 2 in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving.



All 10 learners who enrolled on training achieved the qualification, giving a 100% pass rate on the course. The programme was funded by Bury College Business Solutions and delivered in partnership with Blackstone Training. The course aims to help taxi companies maintain high standards and enabled drivers to gain competencies in Health and Safety, Cleanness, Professional customer relations (including dealing with difficult customers) and Transporting young passengers and those requiring assistance.

Carol McKenzie, Executive Director of Development at Bury College and Sima Lahi, Manager of Business Solutions were delighted to present the awards. Carol McKenzie said, “Bury College are keen to support training initiatives such as this that aim to help businesses improve their service whilst offering their employees vital training and skills. Whilst this training is not yet compulsory, Elton Tiger cars are leading the way in improving the customer service and skills of their drivers.”

The event was also attended by Ali Khan, Director of Elton Tiger Cars, he said, “I am very happy to have NVQ qualified drivers working for Elton Tiger Cars. The qualification will improve the service we deliver to our customers and I am planning to set up training for the other drivers to help them gain the qualification.”
