Bury College promotes Salt Awareness Week - 03-Feb-2010
Bury College Catering and Hospitality department celebrated National Salt Awareness Week this week by putting on demonstrations and seminars for students.
Seminars were delivered by Samantha Hardman, Catering lecturer at Bury College, to demonstrate healthy cooking techniques and promote salt awareness within our food. The seminars provided students with information about the dangers of salt intake, details about the average daily intake and provided demonstrations of how to prepare a quick meal without the use of any salt.
In addition, to celebrate National Salt Awareness Week the 3CZons restaurant at Bury College will be offering a salad bar for staff and students throughout the week. Samantha Hardman comments, “We are encouraging Chefs not to put too much salt into the food they produce as the customers are unaware of the amount of salt added during cooking.”
