Overview of the Course

As well as developing your basic numeracy skills, our classes aim to increase your confidence in this subject. An initial assessment will determine what level of maths you will study – this will be discussed with you when you attend your interview.

What topics will I study?

The topics covered include

  • Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Rounding and estimation
  • Fractions, decimals and percentages
  • Measurement
  • Handling data, graphs and tables

Who is this course aimed at?

This course is designed for adults (19+)


Attending skill-building classes may lead to joining a GCSE in Mathematics at Bury College. This in turn can lead to a wide variety of further study options including an Access to Higher Education Diploma.

What are the entry requirements?

Successful completion of an initial assessment plus interview.


3 - 9 months depending on start date and qualification

You will attend a weekly 3 hour class (day-time and evening classes available). Excellent attendance is critical.
