|Course Title||Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing|
This course is designed for hairdressers wishing to develop advanced skills in specialist areas and is based around learning theory and knowledge and practising skills. An enthusiasm for hairdressing is essential, in addition to personal qualities of motivation, good communication and dexterity skills. Mature learners are welcome on this course.
Successful completion of this course may allow you to progress onto a Foundation Degree in Salon Management or employment in a salon of your choice. Career opportunities include hairdresser, salon owner, stylist, freelance hairdresser, cruise liner stylist, salon manager, manufacturer technician, salon receptionist.
Level 2 qualification in Hairdressing.
The course is for a duartion of one year and starts in September.
You will complete a comprehensive programme of study to enable you to achieve advanced and creative hairdressing skills. This course is based around learning the theory then developing the practical skills.You will be assessed by completion of continual practical assessments, oral questions, assignments, and online external tests. This course will also include a work placement. Whilst on your Study Programme, you will achieve the technical skills in the following services: Monitor and Maintain Health and Safety Practice in the Salon, Hairdressing Consultation Support for Colleagues, Cut Women’s Hair to Create a Variety of Looks, Style and Dress Hair using a Variey of Techniques, Colour Hair to Create a Variety of Looks, Perm Hair to Create a Variety of Looks, Creative Hairdressing Design Skills, Hair colour correction services. In addition, English and maths GCSEs depending on entry grades or age.
You will gain a range of employability skills including customer service, dealing with diverse sectors of the public, organisation and time management skills, speaking and listening skills, written English language, maths/numeracy related skills including money, time and estimating.
You will complete structured work experience with monitoring visits from Bury College. A record will be kept for all your experiences whilst out on placement. Work experience is a compulsory part of this course and will include one day a week working within the industry as part of your timetable.

Additional costs include a Level 3 top up kit which will cost approximately £144 or full kit approximately £207. Female uniform will cost £48.75 and consists of a tunic, leggings and ballet shoes. Male uniform will cost £7.50 and consists of a polo shirt. Own smart black trousers and smart black shoes complete the uniform. No trainers or sports shoes are allowed. You should have excellent personal appearance and communication skills, a professional manner, good attitude and commitment to achieve on this course.
