|Course Title||Level 2 Technical Certificate in Cutting and Styling|
This course has been designed to meet the demands of the hairdressing industry and meet the latest educational reforms. The skills you will develop will include shampooing, conditioning, styling and finishing hair, cutting hair, plaiting and twisting hair.
The Level 2 Technical Certificate in Cutting and Styling could lead to a job as a Hairdresser working in one of the following: Hairdressing salon, Hotel, Gym. On completion, your progression route could be a Level 2 Technical Certificate in Colouring, a Level 2 Technical Certificate in Barbering or an apprenticeship in a salon of your choice.
Entry requirements are three or more GCSE at grades A*-D, including maths and English at grade 9-3 (A*-D) or Level 1 Hairdressing and Beauty, previous experience or 19+.
This is a one year course starting in September.
You will complete the mandatory assessment components of a theory based exam and a practical synoptic assignment towards the end of the course and additionally, you will provide evidence of work experience. Whilst on your Study Programme, you will achieve the technical skills in the following services: Principles of practice of hairdressing, Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp, Style, set and dress hair, Cut hair using basic techniques and Plait and twist hair.
You will develop a range of employability skills including customer service skills, dealing with diverse sectors of the public, organisation and time management skills, speaking and listening skills, written English language and maths/numeracy related skills including money, time, estimating.
You will complete structured work experience with monitoring visits from Bury College. A record will be kept for all your evidence whilst out on placement.
You will further develop your skills through enrichment opportunities which include: Competition classes, Master classes with industry experts, Employer input, Trips and visits to industry based activities, Inclusion in sporting/exercise activities, Tutorial sessions covering a range of topical issues including Prevent and British Values.
A Level 2 kit will cost approximately £150.00 A female uniform will cost £48.75 and consists of a tunic, leggings and ballet shoes. A male uniform will cost £7.50 and consists of a polo shirt. Own smart black trousers and smart black shoes complete the uniform. No trainers or sports shoes are allowed. You should have excellent personal appearance and communication skills, a professional manner, good attitude and commitment to achieve on this course.
