Overview of the Course

This course enables you to develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to support teaching and learning in primary, secondary or special schools. You will be assessed by written coursework and observation of your skills in a school setting.

Who is this course aimed at?

This course is designed for anyone interested in supporting children’s learning and considering working as a Teaching Assistant.

Progression

You can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools. You can also progress into employment as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Special Educational Needs Assistant.

What are the entry requirements?

You will be asked to complete an initial assessment when you attend your interview. A clear DBS is also required.

12 months from commencement.

Attendance

You will attend class once a week on a Tuesday from 6.30-8.30pm. You will also need to attend a placement in a school setting for a minimum of 12 hours a week.
