During your apprenticeship you will develop skills that demonstrates the specialist knowledge you have developed for a wide range of roles including: Systems analyst, Telecommunications technician, Internet/Web professional, Senior system support technician, Web master/Senior designer, Lead software developer including games designer. These roles will include skills such as; Supervising Work of Others, Project Management, Investigating & Defining Customer Requirements, Building Relationships, Team working, Communication, Operational/System Management, Remote Support, Quality Control. You will enhance your written and verbal skills as well as learn on the job in a work environment and study at Bury College for the Technical Certificate. Assessment will take place in the workplace and at the college which will include: E-assessment Multiple choice examination, Portfolio of evidence, Practical demonstration/Assignment, Task-based controlled assessment, Combined Skills and Knowledge, Self-Awareness, Management of Self, Problem Solving and Decision Making. You will deal with ICT first line communication tasks, update internal quality systems and monitor systems performance. This course will involve 20% of your time to be dedicated to off the job training.
Initial assessment and diagnostic testing on maths and English will take place prior to commencement of apprenticeship.
Higher Diploma in ICT Professional Competence, Web, Software & Telecoms.
Functional Skills are a vital part of your apprenticeship. They provide the essential knowledge, skills and understanding needed to operate confidently, effectively and independently. Functional skills are available at Level 1 and Level 2 and the level you will work towards will depend on the previous qualifications you have achieved, the results of an assessment prior to your apprenticeship and the requirements of the apprenticeship you are completing. If you have not already achieved Level 2 English and maths you must study for and take the tests for Level 2 English and maths and achieve Level 1 English and maths for Level 2 Apprenticeship
As well as a college attendance to support and assess the knowledge units, the assessor will visit on a regular basis and support you with developing your electronic portfolio which is used as evidence for your end point assessment. At these meetings observations, professional discussions, question and answer sessions teaching and learning plans and reviews will take place.
