Overview of the Course

The content of the course will develop your knowledge and skills. You can choose the qualification that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed for a wide range of roles including; Systems analyst, Telecommunications technician, Internet/Web professional, Senior system support technician, Web master/Senior designer, Lead software developer including games designer. These roles will include skills such as; Evaluating the implications and applicability of working practices, Project Management, Investigating and Defining Customer Requirements, Building Relationships, Team working, Communication, Operational/System Management, Setting Quality Standards. You will learn on the job in the work environment for the diploma and in the college for the Technical Certificate. Assessment will take place in the workplace and at the college which will include; E-assessment, Multiple choice examination, Portfolio of evidence, Practical demonstration/Assignment and Task-based controlled assessment. Combined Skills and Knowledge include; Self-Awareness, Management of Self and Problem Solving and Decision Making. You will also develop communication skills with colleagues and customers and be able to enhance their written and verbal skills. You will deal with ICT first line communication tasks, update internal quality systems and monitor systems performance. This course will involve 20% of your time to be dedicated to off the job training.

What are the entry requirements?

GCSE or equivalent in English, maths and ICT at Level 2.


Foundation level degree, Bachelors in Science.

Functional Skills

You will be expected to have achieved a Level 2 in ICT, English and mathematics.


As well as a college attendance to support and assess the knowledge units, the assessor will visit on a regular basis and support you with developing your electronic portfolio which is used as evidence for your end point assessment. At these meetings observations, professional discussions, question and answer sessions teaching and learning plans and reviews will take place.
