Overview of the Course

The aim of this qualification is to enable you to develop the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of the principles involved in preparing and cooking fruit and vegetables to produce dishes at a professional level. Emphasis is placed on the development, practice and acquisition of practical skills and theoretical knowledge. It will also provide you with a rounded experience in preparing and cooking meat and offal dishes. You will learn to recognise the quality points of meat and offal with emphasis placed on the development, practice and acquisition of practical skills in preparation and cooking.

What topics will I study?

The topics covered include; preparing fruit and vegetables, cooking fruit and vegetables, preparing meat and offal and cooking meat and offal.

Who is this course aimed at?

The Level 2 Culinary Skills qualifications will suit you if you have some basic skills or if you want to gain a formal qualification and increase your skills.


This qualification can lead to further study in Hospitality or provide knowledge for those wishing to enter the Hospitality sector.

What are the entry requirements?

You will be asked to complete an initial assessment when you attend your enrolment.


This course will run for two days a week for three weeks.


There will be various start dates across the year - October: 4th, 5th and 11th, 12th and 18th, 19th. December: 6th, 7th and 13th, 14th and 20th, 21st. January: 31st. February: 1st and 7th, 8th and 14th, 15th. March: 14th 15th and 21st, 22nd and 28th, 29th.
Three weeks from commencement.


You will attend two days per week for three weeks on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.30 am - 3.00 pm.


This is a free course however an eligibility criteria applies. Cost if not eligible is £140 (£70 per unit).
