The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is the awarding body for qualifications in the field of HRM (Human Resource Management). The Certificate in Human Resource Practice is a Level 3 qualification and is the foundation course in the CIPD’s library of HR qualifications. This course is the starting point if you want to develop your skills, knowledge and career in HR.
The topics covered include • Developing yourself as an effective HR practitioner • Understanding organisations and the role of HR • Recording, analysing and using HR information • Resourcing talent • Supporting good practice in performance management and reward • Contributing to the process of job analysis • Supporting change in organisations
The course is relevant if you are currently working at the level of Personnel Assistant, Administrator or Officer and your role involves providing support for key aspects of the personnel function. It is also appropriate if you are completely new to or aspiring to a career in HR/personnel, if you are an Owner/Manager of a small business or a Line Manager who wishes to gain the same level of personnel skills as practitioners at this level.
If you successfully complete the Certificate in Human Resource Practice you may then go on to study the Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management. This is a Level 5 qualification and is the Intermediate course in the CIPD’s library of HR qualifications. Alternatively you may wish to study the Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Development that is a Level 5 qualification and is the Intermediate course in the CIPD’s library of L&D qualifications.
There are no formal entry requirements however good written skills would be beneficial. You may be required to complete an informal interview/discussion.
The course runs for one academic year from September to June.
The course runs every Thursday for 4 hours. You can attend between 12.30pm – 4.30pm or 5pm - 9pm. You may also be required to attend additional assessments.
£1,265 and CIPD membership.
You must join the CIPD in order to complete the course and gain your qualification. An initial joining fee and annual membership fee applies.
