Overview of the Course

This qualification develops the knowledge and awareness of the causes of infection and how these can be managed and controlled.

The topics covered include:

  • How to prevent the spread of infection
  • Cleaning and waste disposal processes
  • What is good customer service and what is the effect it has on businesses
  • Current legislation

Who is this course aimed at?

This qualification is suitable for anyone wanting to work as health care assistants, health care workers or social care workers in local authority or private care environments.


This qualification can help you to progress onto Health and Safety studies at Level 2. It can also support you in working towards employment in Health or Adult and Children’s Social Care settings.

What are the entry requirements?

You will be asked to complete an initial assessment when you attend your enrolment.


Three weeks.


Various start dates from September 2017.
Three weeks from commencement.


You will attend class for five hours per week, timetable to be confirmed.


This is a free course however an eligibility criteria applies. Cost if not eligible to be confirmed.
