Overview of the Course

Business Administration holds an important support role within any business or organisation. This apprenticeship prepares you to work effectively in a wide range of administration roles including executive assistant, secretary, administration assistant and many more. This qualification teaches advanced and essential skills to administrators that are required to provide continued high-level administration services to suit all types and size of organisation. You will acquire a broad range of skills including administration skills, customer-handling skills, technical and practical skills, oral communication skills and IT skills. The content of the course covers many areas. The range of mandatory units include: Communicating in a business environment, Understand employer organisations, Principles of providing administrative services, Managing personal and professional development, Develop working relationships with colleagues. The range of optional units include: Analyse and present business data, Produce minutes of meetings, Administer finance, Deliver customer service, Deliver a presentation, Understand working in a customer service environment, Store and retrieve information. The course will involve 20% of the work to be completed off the job training and may include some college attendance.

What are the entry requirements?

Initial assessment and diagnostic testing on maths and English will take place prior to commencement of apprenticeship.

Functional Skills

Functional Skills are a vital part of your apprenticeship. They provide the essential knowledge, skills and understanding needed to operate confidently, effectively and independently. Functional skills are available at Level 1 and Level 2 and the level you will work towards will depend on the previous qualifications you have achieved, the results of an assessment prior to your apprenticeship and the requirements of the apprenticeship you are completing. If you have not already achieved Level 2 English and maths you must study for and take the tests for Level 2 English and maths and achieve level 1 English and maths for Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Assessment

As well as an initial assessment to determine your current learning level, your assessor will visit on a regular basis and support you with developing your electronic portfolio which consists of knowledge and competence units. At these meetings assessment methods will take place including; observations, discussions, question and answer sessions and regular performance reviews.
