Overview of the Course

This course will enable you develop an understanding of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and the behaviours associated with this condition. You will also gain practical skills to support individuals on the autistic spectrum. You will be assessed by written coursework.

What topics will I study?

You will study the following topics:

  •  Autism Vs Asperger Syndrome
  •  The emotional implications of ASD for the individual and the family
  •  Does society’s reaction to ASD have an impact on education and learning?
  •  The behaviours associated with ASD
  •  Strategies to help individuals with ASD cope with everyday situations

Who is this course aimed at?

This course is designed for anyone interested in supporting individuals with ASD.


It provides an excellent starting point for further study.

What are the entry requirements?

You will be asked to complete an initial assessment when you attend your enrolment.


The course lasts for a duration of three weeks.


10th, 17th and 24th January

31st January, 7th, 14th February

28th February, 7th, 14th March

18th, 25th April and 2nd May

9th, 15th and 23rd May

6th, 13th and 20th June

The course will run for three weeks from the start date.


You will attend class once a week on a Wednesday from 10.00 am – 1.00 pm.
