Overview of the Course

This qualification aims to raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health difficulties, to dispel some of the myths and misconceptions frequently linked to mental health issues and to develop you knowledge of the rights of those with mental health issues.

What topics will I study?

The topics covered include:

  •  What is meant by the term ‘Mental Health’
  •  The definition and causes of mental health difficulties
  •  Common perceptions of mental health difficulties and how stereotyping can affect people’s perceptions
  •  Where appropriate support can be sought
  •  Cultural diversity within mental health issues

Who is this course aimed at?

Anyone who is considering a career in health and social care or who has an interest in finding out more about mental health issues.

Progression

This qualification can lead to further study in health and social care or provide knowledge for those wishing to enter the health and social care sector.

What are the entry requirements?

You will be asked to complete an initial assessment when you attend your enrolment.

Duration

Two weeks.

Dates

Start dates will run throughout the year - September: 13th and 20th. November: 1st and 8th. December: 13th and 20th. February: 7th and 14th. April: 18th and 25th. June: 6th and 13th.
Two weeks from commencement.

Attendance

The course will run on Wednesdays from 9.30 am – 4.00 pm for two weeks.

Costs

This is a free course however an eligibility criteria applies. Cost if not eligible is £95.
