|Course Title||Access to Learning and Employment Level 1|
This is a skill-building course which takes place two days a week. The aim is to provide you with the opportunity to study at college and develop vital English, maths, ICT and study skills.
We have designed our Level 1 course to take into consideration the requirements of the next stage of education and importantly the need of employers. Development and achievement can be gained in maths, English and ICT. In addition the study skill subjects have been carefully chosen to support development of soft skills required to enter or progress into employment. The course could also lead to a position in apprenticeships.
You will be invited to attend a recruitment evening which includes a presentation, assessment in maths and English and an interview. A reasonable standard of writing English is required.
The course typically runs for a full academic year, starting in September.
Assessment is through presentations, teamwork and assignments as well as external exams for nationally recognised qualifications in English and maths and ICT.
Through the robust academic training on the course, you will develop your verbal and written communication skills. You will engage in a wide range of reading and research, through which analysis skills will develop. Maths will be developed throughout the year.
Work experience is not compulsory on this programme.
Guest speakers are invited and included in the delivery of the course and trips outside the college are included if appropriate.
There will be a fee for the course depending on your individual circumstances. A high level of attendance and commitment is expected.
