In the UK there continues to be a great demand for staff in the health care, social care, and education sectors. To progress into these sectors, the initial requirements are GCSE maths and English, good study skills and ICT skills. We have therefore designed our Access to Further Education with this in mind. Study skill topics are varied in order to maintain a general development in many areas which are in demand by employers. The Level 2 can also give you the qualification and skills needed to seek further career progression in existing employment or to enter the field of apprenticeships.
You will be invited to attend a recruitment evening which includes a presentation, assessment in maths and English and an interview. A good standard of writing English is required.
The course typically runs for a full academic year, starting in September.
A range of assessments are used depending on the nature of the subject; exams, coursework, oral presentation; note GCSE’s are assessed through external examinations in the summer.
Through the robust academic training on the course, you will perfect and develop your verbal and written communication skills. You will engage in a wide range of reading and research, through which your critical thinking and analysis skills will develop. Maths skills will be developed throughout the year.
Work experience is not compulsory on this programme.
