Principal's Welcome

At Bury College we aim to provide you with the best possible student experience, offering high quality academic and vocational programmes in a host of subjects and giving you outstanding choice.

By studying at Bury College you will become part of an exceptional learning environment. I am both delighted and proud to report that Bury College has received a set of Grade 1s - the highest grade possible- in all areas by Ofsted inspectors in February 2007. These grades have been confirmed each year since. Inspectors praised in particular:

• “Very high success rates for learners aged 16-18”
• “Outstanding quality of provision”
• “An unrelenting pursuit for excellence”

This tremendous achievement makes Bury College one of the best colleges to study at in the country.

Our results are consistently above the national average and in 2012 the College achieved an exceptional pass rate of 99% for Advanced Level courses. In addition, we have seen our best results ever for Vocational A Level and National Diploma courses with 100% pass rates in many courses.

Success at Bury College is built around a dedication to study, and we offer levels of support that ensure that our students succeed and maximise their potential. Our well established Mentoring for Excellence programme has been very successful in ensuring individual students realise their ambitions.

As Inspectors commented, we do our utmost to ensure that each of our students follows a programme to suit his or her individual needs. Our wide range of programmes allow for choice, progression and our aim is always, of course, success.

All students are encouraged to take part in a range of additional activities such as sport, drama or music and to join in the activities of our popular student union. The student union runs events, organises fundraising for charities and works with us continually to improve our students'
experience of Bury College.

To make sure you have the very best learning environment, we have recently invested over £40 million at the college’s main campus on Market Street, making the facilities and accommodation at Bury College second to none.
