Bury College Theatres
Bury College has two well-equipped theatres, the Peel Theatre and a brand new theatre housed in the College’s state-of-the-art Beacon Centre
We host a variety of dramatic and musical performances throughout the year. Students and external companies stage productions which the public and other students are invited to attend at very reasonable prices. Students enjoy working in this real theatrical environment, playing to live audiences.
A 150 seat theatre with state of the art sound and lighting equipment , Peel Theatre has hosted numerous productions over the years, from Shakespeare to street dance, from Theatre of the Absurd to “A Chorus Line.” Hundreds of students have enjoyed performing here and experiencing professional practice as employed by the industry. Though semi-traditional in structure and feel, Peel Theatre more than meets the needs of today’s ever adapting use of multimedia and experimental performance. Peel Theatre recently played host to “Fame the Musical” which involved fifty students and an eight piece professional band. Peel continues to impress students and audience's alike and often sees packed houses.
The Beacon Theatre is a multipurpose performance space with state of the art sound and lighting equipment. Automated retractable seating means audience numbers can vary up to a maximum of 150. Configuration of the space is adaptable as required by performance/directorial demands, and Beacon has seen a wide and diverse range of styles and performances from contemporary dance to classical acting.
