Big Lottery Funded
Successor to our project Changing Lives, which ended February 2016, Big Lottery Funded three-year project from 2016-2019 that will help to improve the life chances of long-term adults aged 25 and above who have low skills and who live in disadvantaged areas of Bury, through delivery of an enhanced programme of IAG, training and progression support, focused around improving confidence, and increasing skills and employability
Skills for Employment
The GM Skills for Employment Pilot Programme will
run 2016-2017 and aims to test the impact that better integration of employment and skills activities can have on the achievement of positive outcomes for individuals who face multiple barriers to gaining and sustaining employment. Bury College is part of the supply chain, as a Skills Provider.
Delivery of a programme which stimulates the offer of high quality apprenticeship opportunities by employers in Greater Manchester linked to life sciences, generates demand for laboratory technician science apprenticeships amongst young people, and supports providers in delivering the new Trailblazer standards.
Recently completed projects:
Supported the college to build on work undertaken, e.g. by New Horizons team, through programme of activities designed to support those students operating at the lower end of the Autism Spectrum making the transition to mainstream courses throughout the wider college. Included delivering of wide-spread staff development and student awareness raising activities, plus employer events and parent forums.
Changing Lives’ project helped to improve the life chances of over 300 unemployed and low-skilled residents living in disadvantaged areas of Bury, through delivery of a community-driven, demand led programme of responsive training and support which helped to widen interest, motivation and aspiration in learning and help to secure many positive outcomes, focused around improved self-confidence and increased employability.
