Bury College - New Facilities
The Bury College town centre campus and facilities are currently being transformed and enhanced. An investment of over £7 million has been made in order to ensure Bury College continues to provide the outstanding learning experience for students it is nationally recognised for.
Woodbury Centre Development - Completed Autumn 2012
Work has now finished on the impressive five-storey extension at the college’s Woodbury Centre on Market Street.
Contractor Eric Wright Construction, part of the Preston-based Eric Wright Group won the contract for a new building at Bury College. The development features a range of green technologies and is constructed from a combination of brick, stone, cladding and glazed walls.
The building will enhance the existing learning facilities through inclusion of a brand new Learning Resource Centre and library; new industry standard Art Studios and improved IT resources.
The design will also build upon many existing features of the current building by adding a significant amount of new learning space, creating a pleasant and friendly learning environment, and through including an environmentally friendly central courtyard.
It marks the seventh stage of Bury College's redevelopment and takes investment across the campus over recent years to nearly £40m. Charlie Deane, the college's deputy principal, said: “Bury College is committed to meeting the complex and changing learning needs of our students and employer partners. “Providing high-class, contemporary facilities for our learners and staff is an important part of the process."
