A group of talented Performing Arts students have claimed places and life changing scholarships at some of the top theatre institutions in the UK.
Bury College School of Performance was delighted to receive the news that eight Performing Arts superstars have been awarded places at some of the leading Performing Arts schools. Proud to offer a career-enhancing course which provides students with the skills and experience to progress directly into industry, the training students receive at the Bury College Jim Cartwright Theatre is a fantastic way to kick-start a professional Performing Arts career.
International playwright and actor Jim Cartwright visited the students to personally congratulate the students on their exceptional achievements. Jim said, “I was delighted to visit the students and find out about their different progression routes. They have all done amazingly to not only exceed in their studies but to also secure places at some of the top Performing Arts institutions across the country. I am sure they all have a bright careers ahead of them.”
Patrick McDonagh, a former Our Lady’s RC High School pupil, was one of the five students to be awarded a place at Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama (MADD) on the Professional Musical Theatre Diploma. Patrick was delighted to have been awarded the 90% David Essex Scholarship.
Patrick said, “I am over the moon with my scholarship. I have worked hard for this and I am so thankful that my hard work has paid off. I have enjoyed my time at Bury College, I’ve met some incredible people and have loved the course.”
Jessica Ithell has secured an incredible 100% MADD Full Scholarship. The former St James’s Church of England High School pupil added, “I was overwhelmed and shocked when I heard the news I had received a full scholarship! I am very happy to have been awarded such a high scholarship. I have enjoyed my time at Bury College and it has massively helped me improve my performance skills.”
Other scholarships include a 90% MADD Runner-up Scholarship, two 80% MADD Scholarship and places have been secured at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and SLP College.
