What are Apprenticeships?

Apprenticeships from Bury College provide you with top quality work-based training programmes. They give you the opportunity to earn a real wage as you learn and gain practical skills in the workplace.

Offering the perfect balance between on the job training, work experience and assessments; as an Apprentice you can gain the essential skills and experience employers want.

Qualifications and Training

The level of qualification you can work to as an Apprentice will depend on previous qualifications and past work experience.

• Apprenticeships (Level 2) – these are equivalent to 5 A-C GCSE
• Advanced Apprenticeships (Level 3) – these are equivalent to 2 A Levels

As part of our Apprenticeship programme, you may also study for a Technical Certificate to demonstrate your understanding and knowledge of supporting theory.

You may also be required to complete Functional Skills in Communication, Application of Numbers and Information Technology.


We offer Apprenticeships in 27 different areas:

Accounting, Barbering, Beauty Therapy, Business Administration, Catering and Hospitality, Children’s Care, Learning and Development, Cleaning, Construction, Contact Centre, Creative & Digital Media, Customer Service, Electrical Installation, Hairdressing, Health and Social Care, ITQ User, IT Practitioner (Technician), Management, Manufacturing, Nail Services, Oral Healthcare (Dental Nursing), Playwork, Retail, Sport and Leisure, Teaching Assistants, Team Leading, Travel Services and Warehousing.
